Note: While we offer more complex remote solutions like ATC, Matt+, and Atom 2 in our apps, SB Mote provides a simple, reliable solution for basic remote triggering needs.

Getting Started

Initial Setup

  1. Remove the battery tab: SB Mote is operated by a CR1632 battery. Some units are shipped with a battery tab that protects the battery โ€“ simply pull the tab out if you see it.

  2. Turn the remote on: Press and hold the button on the remote for 3 seconds to turn it on. The LED indicator will blink to confirm power-on.

  3. Pair the remote with your phone:

    • First-time pairing requires manual Bluetooth pairing
    • Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and look for โ€œSBMoteโ€ in the list of available devices
    • On newer Android devices, you may need to tap on โ€œPair new deviceโ€
    • Select the remote and follow the prompts to complete the pairing process
    • The LED will turn off when successfully connected

  4. Verify the connection:

    • Press the button on SB Mote - this should trigger a Volume Up action on your phone (if itโ€™s not already at maximum volume)
    • Apps can intercept this signal and perform custom actions instead of adjusting volume

Power Management

Turn the remote off: When you are finished using the SB Mote, press and hold the button for 3 seconds to turn it off. The LED indicator will flash 3 times before shutting down.

Auto Shutdown Features:

  • If not paired with a device after 5 minutes, the remote will automatically shut down
  • If not being used for 10 minutes, it will enter sleep mode
  • If not awakened after an additional 10 minutes, it will shut down completely

Donโ€™t worry about the remote turning off during longer performances โ€“ you can easily turn it back on by pressing the button at any time. When you turn the remote back on, it will automatically reconnect to your phone.

Care and Maintenance

  • The SB Mote is small and can be easily lost, so be sure to take good care of it
  • Keep it away from moisture and extreme temperatures
  • When traveling, store it in a protective case or pouch

Reconnection

When youโ€™ve already paired a remote, next time just turn it on, and it will automatically connect to your phone.

Battery Replacement

Replacing the battery is simple:

  1. Open the remote with a small tool (such as a knife or coin)
  2. Remove the old battery and install the new one with the plus side upward
  3. Close the case by pressing both halves together until they snap
