Settings

The PeekSmith app Settings allow you to configure device connections, control actions, and manage advanced features. This page covers the main settings sections available in the app.

Connect Devices

Connect and manage settings for your compatible devices:

  • PeekSmith / Bond โ€” Connect your PeekSmith 3, SuperPeek, or Bond device
  • Teleport โ€” Configure Teleport display settings
  • Atom Remote โ€” Pair and configure Atom 2 remote
  • Quantum โ€” Connect Quantum remote control
  • MrCard โ€” Set up MrCard device with rotation support
  • Ray Device โ€” Connect Ray device
  • SB Watch โ€” Pair compatible smartwatches
  • ATC โ€” Configure ATC thumb-tip remote

User Settings

Manage your account and backup configurations:

  • Account ID โ€” View your unique account identifier
  • Account Details โ€” Manage account information
  • Username โ€” Set or change your username
  • Activate Code โ€” Enter activation codes for add-ons and features
  • Manage Save/Backup Slots โ€” Create and manage backup configurations
  • Restore Your Settings โ€” Restore from saved backup slots

Action Control

The Action Control section lets you assign custom actions to physical buttons, events, and triggers.

Monitor Volume Buttons

When enabled, the app will catch volume up and volume down button presses on your phone. This works with:

  • Physical volume buttons on your phone
  • Selfie-stick remotes
  • SB Mote (sends Volume Up signal)
  • Some magic remotes that send Volume Up/Down signals

Important: When this setting is ON, you cannot control your phoneโ€™s volume using these buttons. Only enable this feature when you donโ€™t need to play music or use your phoneโ€™s audio.

Volume Button Actions

When โ€œMonitor Volume Buttonsโ€ is enabled, you can assign actions to:

  • Volume Up โ€” Trigger when volume up button is pressed
  • Volume Down โ€” Trigger when volume down button is pressed

Available actions include:

  • Turn PeekSmith into standby mode (screen off)
  • Send information to another app
  • Start text recognition
  • Clear the screen
  • And more

On New Text

Assign an action to trigger automatically when the app receives new text from any source:

  • Assistant typing in the app
  • Text recognition results
  • Web polling data
  • NFC reader input
  • Other connected sources

GhostMove

Connect to a GhostMove device and assign actions to its button press events.

Notifications

Control how the app handles push notifications:

  • Catch Notifications โ€” Enable or disable push notification monitoring

Note: This feature is only available on Android. iOS does not allow apps to monitor push notifications.

Web Polling

Configure connections to compatible apps and web services:

  • Enable WEB Data Polling โ€” Turn on web-based data retrieval

Set up NFC/RFID tag reading capabilities:

  • Connect to Insight โ€” Pair with Insight NFC reader
  • Customize NFC Tags โ€” Configure custom tag actions and behaviors
  • Start Built-in NFC Reader โ€” Use your phoneโ€™s built-in NFC functionality

Doodle Drawing

Configure drawing screens and related settings:

Basic Settings

  • Enable WEB-Doodle โ€” Allow web-based doodle input
  • Page Orientation โ€” Set portrait or landscape mode
  • Drawing Thickness โ€” Adjust line width (1-10)
  • Action When Idle โ€” Set behavior when drawing screen is inactive
  • Live Peek on PeekSmith/Bond โ€” Show drawing in real-time on peek device

Display Options

  • Zoom/Crop When Finished โ€” Automatically adjust completed drawings
  • Auto Rotate on PS3 โ€” Enable automatic rotation on PeekSmith 3
  • Display on Smartwatch โ€” Show drawings on connected watch

Black Screen Settings

  • Crop & ZOOM Drawings โ€” Adjust drawing display area
  • Screen Visibility โ€” Set app screen brightness (0-10)
  • Peek Visibility โ€” Set peek device brightness (1-10)
  • Peek Duration โ€” How long drawing displays on peek device

Touch Gestures

Configure actions for touch interactions on Black Screen:

  • 1 Finger Single Tap โ€” Assign action
  • 1 Finger Double Tap โ€” Assign action
  • 1 Finger Swipe UP โ€” Assign action
  • 1 Finger Swipe DOWN โ€” Assign action

WEB-Doodle

  • Enable WEB-Doodle โ€” Allow remote doodle input via web interface

Voice Recorder Add-On

Configure voice recording features:

  • Repeat Audio After โ€” Set time between repetitions
  • Number of Repeats โ€” Configure how many times audio loops

Configure dictionary and word lookup features:

  • Enable Third Party Apps for 1 Hour โ€” Temporarily allow external dictionary access

Additional app configuration options:

  • Use Nexus Instead of Stranger โ€” Switch between display devices
  • Screen OFF When Covered โ€” Use proximity sensor to turn off display
  • Background Music โ€” Play background audio during performance
  • Display Size โ€” Adjust text and UI element size
  • Show Text Buffer โ€” Display incoming text queue
  • Matrix Effect at Startup โ€” Show visual effect when app starts
  • Show Debug Messages โ€” Enable technical diagnostic messages

Using SB Mote with PeekSmith

A common use case is using SB Mote to control PeekSmith remotely:

  1. Enable Monitor Volume Buttons in Settings โ†’ Action Control
  2. Assign Volume Up action to โ€œPeekSmith Standbyโ€ (or your preferred action)
  3. Press the SB Mote button to trigger the action

This allows you to turn off the PeekSmith screen remotely to save battery, or trigger other actions during performance.
