Changing the Straps
Customize your SB Watch with a new strap. This straightforward process takes just a few minutes with the right tools.
What You Need
Strap size:
- SB Watch Modern/Pocket: 20mm wide straps
- SB Watch Steel: 22mm wide straps
Tools:
- Spring bar tool (recommended) โ Makes the process quick and easy
- Small screwdriver (alternative) โ Can also remove and attach straps
Quick-release spring bars (recommended):
2022 models include quick-release spring bars. If youโre buying a new strap, choose one with quick-release bars โ theyโre much easier to install and remove.
What is a Spring Bar?
A spring bar is a small, thin metal rod that attaches straps to watches. It has a spring inside that compresses when you press the ends, allowing you to insert it into the watch lugs. When released, it expands to hold the strap securely in place.
Spring bars make it easy to swap straps without damaging your watch.
Steps to Change Your Strap
1. Remove the Old Strap
- Locate the spring bar ends on both sides of the strap where it connects to the watch case
- Use spring bar tool or screwdriver to press down on one end of the spring bar
- Apply firm pressure to compress the spring and pop the bar out of the lug
- Repeat on the other side of the watch
Tip: Work over a soft surface to catch the spring bars if they pop out.
2. Remove Spring Bars from Old Strap (if needed)
If your new strap doesnโt include spring bars, remove them from your old strap and reuse them.
Skip this step if your new strap already has spring bars attached.
3. Install New Strap
- Insert spring bar into the new strap (if not already attached)
- Compress one end of the spring bar with your tool
- Insert the other end into the watch lug
- Align the compressed end with the opposite lug hole
- Release pressure to let the spring bar snap into place
- Repeat on the other side of the watch
4. Test the Fit
Gently tug the strap to make sure both spring bars are securely locked in place.

Tips
- Quick-release spring bars have small levers on the ends โ you can remove them without tools by pulling the lever
- Donโt force it โ If the spring bar wonโt go in, check that you have the correct size (20mm or 22mm)
- Keep spare spring bars โ Theyโre inexpensive and easy to lose
