Black Screen
The Black Screen turns your phone display completely black while keeping the app active. This is primarily used for peeking drawings when you donโt have a dedicated peeking device.
How to Use
- Open the PeekSmith app.
- Select Black Screen from the screens menu.
- Your phone screen turns black, but the app stays active.
- To exit, hold the screen with one finger.
When to Use Black Screen
- Peek drawings without a dedicated device โ Use your phone to receive drawings from Impression Pads or Web Doodle when you donโt have a PeekSmith, Bond, or MrCard
- Keep the phone active but concealed โ The screen appears off while the app continues running in the background
Settings
Configure the Black Screen in Settings โ Doodle Drawing:
General Settings
- Crop & Zoom drawings โ Automatically crop and zoom drawings for better visibility
- Screen visibility โ How bright the phone screen is (0-10, default: 10)
- Peek visibility โ How bright the drawing appears on your device (1-10, default: 5)
- Peek duration โ How long the drawing stays visible (default: 2 seconds)
Gesture Actions
You can assign actions to different gestures:
- 1 finger single tap
- 1 finger double tap
- 2 finger single tap
- 2 finger double tap
- 1 finger swipe up
- 1 finger swipe down
- 2 finger swipe up
- 2 finger swipe down
Assign actions like clearing the screen, triggering text recognition, or sending content to other apps.
Tip: You can use these gestures while the device is in your pocket. Some phone screens can detect touches through trouser material, letting you control the app without taking your phone out.
