Using Quantum

Can I use my phone while the PeekSmith app is running?

Yes. The PeekSmith app can run in the background and stays connected to Quantum even when you lock your phone or switch to other apps.

This means you can:

• Hand your phone to a spectator for another effect.
• Switch to other apps while Quantum stays connected.
• Keep the app running discreetly in the background.

Do I Have to Learn Programming to Use Quantum?

Not at all. Quantum works out of the box with built-in features and preloaded MagiScript apps.

You can:

• Use Q-Force for number forcing (no coding required).
• Load ready-made mini-apps from the community.
• Configure settings through the PeekSmith app.
• Use it with compatible apps.

If you want to customize:

• MagiScript is simple and feels more like building with LEGO than writing complex code.
• Dozens of ready-to-use examples are available.
• Active community helps beginners in the MagiScript Facebook Group.

Does Quantum Work as a Bluetooth Device?

Yes. Quantum can behave as a Bluetooth keyboard, enabling interactions with phones and computers. You can reveal predictions, send information, or trigger effects—without touching the screen.

Keyboard modes available:

• Key by Key — Types each button press.
• Calculator Tape — Shows full calculation process.
• Result: Full — Only types the final result.
• Result: Last 2 — Types last two digits (perfect for card reveals).
• Numbers Only — Numeric input without operators.

Can I use it with MagiScript?

Yes. Quantum runs MagiScript, a simple scripting language that lets you customize behavior, timing, and routines.

Built-in mini-apps:

• Q-Force — Force any number effortlessly.
• Q-Type — Bluetooth keyboard functionality.
• Q-Sequence — Assign actions to entered numbers.
• Q-Mirror — Mirror two Quantum screens.
• Q-Fate — The illusion of choice.

What Devices Can Quantum Connect With?

Quantum works seamlessly with:

• PeekSmith 3 — Mirror display for hands-free peeking.
• Bond — Same capabilities as PeekSmith 3.
• Atom 2 — Remote control for Quantum features.
• SB Watch / SB Watch 2 — Send results for time reveals.
• MrCard — Multi-device synchronized routines.
• Other Bluetooth devices — Via PeekSmith app integration.

How does Q-Force (number forcing) work?

Q-Force makes the calculator display a force number instead of the actual result when someone presses the equals button.

Basic example:

1. Set your force number (e.g., 1234).
2. Spectator calculates 50 + 50.
3. They press = and see 1234 instead of 100.

Force methods:

• Permanent force: Set in PeekSmith app settings.
• Temporary force: Enter number on calculator, long-press ) button.
• Range conditions: Only force when result falls within specified range.

Does remainder force work?

Not yet available. Remainder force is planned for a future firmware update.

What is remainder force?
An advanced forcing technique where Quantum forces a number based on the remainder when dividing by a specific value (e.g., forcing playing cards 1-52).

Current workaround:
Advanced users can create custom remainder force logic using MagiScript mini-apps.

What works now:

• Direct number forcing (Q-Force).
• Force within a range (min/max conditions).
• Temporary force numbers (on-the-fly).

Can I control other devices with Quantum?

Limited. Quantum primarily receives commands from apps and other devices, but can send information to:

Send to:

• PeekSmith 3 / Bond — Display calculations (via Q-Force peek setting).
• SB Watch — Send results for time reveals (via Q-Sequence mini-app).

Receive from:

• PeekSmith app — Configure settings, set force numbers.
• Atom 2 — Toggle force mode remotely.
• Bond — Control Quantum settings.

How do I turn Quantum ON and OFF?

To turn on: Press the ON/AC button.

To turn off (full shutdown):

1. Press and hold ON/AC button for a few seconds.
2. Press the = button.
3. Quantum powers off completely.

Idle mode (screen dimmed but stays connectable):

• Press and hold ON/AC button for a few seconds (don’t press =).
• After 6 minutes of inactivity, Quantum enters Idle mode automatically.
• After 1 hour of inactivity, Quantum powers off completely.

Most of the time, Idle mode is sufficient and more convenient than full shutdown.

What about the battery slot and solar panel?

The visible battery slot and solar panel are cosmetic only — they don’t actually power the device. Quantum is powered by a hidden LiPo battery charged wirelessly.

This authentic calculator appearance is essential for the illusion.

What do the slide switches do?

Quantum has three slide switches on the front that are currently cosmetic only and do not affect device operation. They’re part of the authentic calculator appearance.

Future firmware updates may add functionality to these switches.

Can multiple apps or devices connect to Quantum at the same time?

Quantum can connect to multiple apps/devices simultaneously. However, it can only be paired (as a Bluetooth keyboard) to one device at a time.

If connection fails: You may need to forget/unpair Quantum from your phone’s Bluetooth settings and pair again. See Troubleshooting.

Is There a Way to Make Quantum Work with Other Apps?

Yes. Quantum can:

• Work directly with supported apps.
• Send data via Bluetooth Keyboard mode.
• Integrate with the PeekSmith app, which can bridge to Web APIs and other platforms.

Battery & Charging

What Kind of Battery Does Quantum Have?

Quantum contains a built-in LiPo battery that charges wirelessly using any Qi charger. One is included in the box.

How Long Does the Battery Last?

Quantum operates for about 8 hours on a full charge.

⚠️ We recommend fully charging the device before every performance to avoid surprises.

How Do I Charge the Device?

Place Quantum on any Qi-compatible wireless charger. It takes around 1 hour to fully charge.

Charging steps:

1. Place Quantum on the wireless charging pad.
2. Align the charging area (near the hologram sticker on the back, bottom area).
3. Look for the “CRT” indicator in the top-right corner of the screen.
4. When you see “CRT”, the device is charging properly.

Charging behavior:

• Won’t charge below ~10% battery: If fully discharged, leave on charger for 10-15 minutes to reach minimum threshold.
• Stops charging at ~90-95%: This is intentional to preserve battery health.

Not charging? Try moving Quantum on the charger to find proper alignment, or test with a different Qi charger.

Can I replace the battery?

No. The battery is not user-replaceable. With proper care (regular charging, not letting it fully discharge), it will last for years.

Battery care:

• ✅ Charge after every performance.
• ✅ Charge at least once a month even when not in use.
• ❌ Don’t let it fully discharge (damages LiPo batteries).

How do I clean and maintain Quantum?

Cleaning:

• Wipe the screen and body with a soft, dry cloth.
• For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth (not wet).
• Never use cleaning chemicals or alcohol.

Storage:

• Store in a clean, protective case or box.
• Don’t keep it loose with keys, coins, or other items that could scratch the screen.
• Avoid direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.

Battery maintenance:

• Charge after every performance.
• Charge at least once a month even when not in use.
• Never let it fully discharge.

Regular care:

• Keep firmware updated for performance improvements and bug fixes.
• Check charging area on back for debris that might interfere with wireless charging.

With proper care, your Quantum will last for many years of performances.

Is Quantum waterproof?

No. Quantum has no water resistance. Keep it dry.

Can I attach magnets to Quantum?

Not recommended. The wireless charging system and internal electronics could be affected by external magnets.

Can I use Quantum outdoors or on the street?

Yes. The LCD screen is visible in all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight — unlike OLED/LED screens that wash out in bright light.

This makes Quantum excellent for outdoor performances, street magic, and bright environments.
