Battery Life

PeekSmith 3 battery life depends on usage:

  • Up to 24 hours with screen mostly off
  • 6-8 hours with active use (typical performance scenarios)

Lower brightness and clearing the screen when not peeking maximize battery life.

What Affects Battery Life

The screen uses the most power. Two things make the biggest difference:

  1. Brightness โ€” Lower brightness = longer battery life.
  2. Screen time โ€” Clearing the screen when not peeking extends battery significantly.

Always use the latest firmware โ€” we regularly improve battery performance with updates.

Set the Right Brightness

Find the lowest brightness that works for you. Brightness levels 4-5 are ideal for most situations and provide excellent battery life.

In Standalone Mode

  1. Press both front buttons to enter the menu.
  2. Press the left button to navigate to brightness settings.
  3. Adjust with the right button.
  4. Exit with the side button.

With the PeekSmith App

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ PeekSmith Device.
  2. Tap โ€œDetails.โ€
  3. Adjust brightness.

Note: App brightness overrides standalone brightness while connected. When you disconnect, it returns to the standalone setting.

Clear the Screen

Keep the screen empty when youโ€™re not peeking. This dramatically improves battery life.

With the PeekSmith App

Set up automatic screen clearing:

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Action Control.
  2. Assign โ€œPeekSmith standbyโ€ to an event (like button press).

This turns off the screen to save power.

In Standalone Mode

Assign screen clearing to a button:

  1. Press both front buttons to enter the menu.
  2. Navigate to โ€œSide Button Press,โ€ โ€œLeft Button Press,โ€ or โ€œRight Button Press.โ€
  3. Assign โ€œClear Screenโ€ or โ€œToggle Screen.โ€

If you have an SB Watch connected, you can also assign this to the crown press.

Charging Tips

  • Charge fully โ€” Even after reaching 100%, leave it charging a bit longer for maximum capacity.
  • Charge after performances โ€” Make it a habit so your device is always ready.
  • Charge regularly โ€” Even when not using, charge every 2-3 months to keep the battery healthy.
  • Never let it drain completely โ€” This damages LiPo batteries and shortens their lifespan.
  • Update firmware โ€” Battery optimizations are added regularly.

Battery Lifespan

With proper care, your PeekSmithโ€™s battery will last for years:

  • โœ… Charge every 2-3 months, even when not in use.
  • โœ… Avoid complete discharge.
  • โœ… Use any 5V USB charger.

Battery replacement: Technically possible but not supported. Follow the care guidelines above to maximize battery life.
