Smart Text

Smart Text automatically transforms text into visual graphics. Instead of seeing โ€œAH 7Dโ€, youโ€™ll see card images. Instead of โ€œ:)โ€, youโ€™ll see a smiley face.

Unique to PeekSmith: This feature is exclusive to PeekSmith devices. When text information comes from other sources (apps, devices, card readers), Smart Text displays it visually instead of as plain text โ€” giving you a significant advantage in readability and performance speed.

How It Works

Send text like you normally would. If Smart Text is enabled and recognizes the pattern, it displays graphics instead of text.

Example:

  • Send โ€œAH 7Dโ€ โ†’ See Ace of Hearts and Seven of Diamonds cards
  • Send โ€œ:)โ€ โ†’ See a smiley face
  • Send โ€œ:ok: DONEโ€ โ†’ See a checkmark and the word โ€œDONEโ€

Turning It On

In the PeekSmith App

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ PeekSmith Device.
  2. Tap โ€œDetails.โ€
  3. Enable โ€œSmart Text.โ€

In Standalone Mode

  1. Press both front buttons to enter the menu.
  2. Navigate to โ€œSmart Textโ€ with the left button.
  3. Toggle it on with the right button.
  4. Exit with the side button.

What It Recognizes

Playing Cards

Display up to 3 cards. Separate multiple cards with spaces.

Poker cards:

  • Format: Rank + Suit (e.g., AH, 7D, 10S, KC)
  • Ranks: A, 2-10, J, Q, K
  • Suits: H (Hearts), D (Diamonds), S (Spades), C (Clubs)

Single-letter cards:

  • Letters: A-Z
  • Numbers: 0-9
  • Question mark: ?

ESP symbols:

  • circle, cross, plus, waves, square, star, triangle, infinity
  • Case insensitive

Color cards:

  • white, green, red, orange, blue, yellow, purple, brown, black, grey, pink, silver, gold, bronze, violet
  • Hex codes: #123456
  • Case insensitive

Example: Send A 7C Yellow to display three cards:

Cards: A 7C Yellow

Card Display Options

Control how cards appear:

Text โ€” Shows card names as text (e.g., โ€œAce of Heartsโ€).

Visual โ€” Always shows card images.

Visual + Text โ€” Shows image + text for 1 card, images only for 2-3 cards.

To change: Adjust โ€œCard Presentationโ€ in device settings (standalone mode menu) or app settings.

Note for color-blind users: If you have trouble recognizing colors, use โ€œTextโ€ or โ€œVisual + Textโ€ mode, or disable Smart Text.

Emojis & Icons

Display one icon with up to 10 characters of text (optional). Separate icon and text with a space.

Emojis:

  • :) :-) :D :-D ^^
  • :( :-( :x :-x :| :-|

Icons:

  • Arrows: :up: :down: :left: :right:
  • Feedback: :yes: :ok: :correct: :no: :incorrect:
  • Actions: :like: :dislike: <3 :heart: :temp: :reload: :mix: :shuffle:

Tips

  • Keep it simple: Short, recognized patterns work best.
  • Test first: Try different formats to see what displays best.
  • Works everywhere: Smart Text works in both app mode and standalone mode.
  • Turn it off anytime: If you prefer plain text, just disable the feature.
